Bluestones

as the sarsens weigh between 20 to 30 tons moving a 4 ton stone can't have been out of the question , in fact comparatively they were fairly light . The distance was greater but i think well within the capabilities of people moving 30 ton boulders .and as rivers may well have been used ,the cleddau on the welsh side and possibly the avon on the english side the the land pulls were lessened.

Yep, sounds odd to talk about in these terms but if it was a highly organised 'project' involving hundreds of people and the motivation was enough..
Many other sites must have benefited from a high degree of planning?

It was doubtless achingly slow, difficult and dangerous but surely it was possible?

Nobody seems to question the idea that they moved the gigantic sarsens to the site from the Marlborough downs. Its as if transporting those stones 20+ miles is easily imaginable.

And there were no PG Tips and Malted milk to have at breaktime. Can you imagine?
