When we look at the work and skill shown by our ancestors to work the great sarsen stones , shaped, tenons cut from the rock and erected , and the lintels which are curved to the circle shape as well as tenoned again ; transporting the bluestones from the presellis isn't so far fetched in fact I would say highly probable .
And if all else fails - it was aliens lol .

Great post. In terms of physical effort reflecting some sort of devotion (or great need?) just looking at Avebury should tell you all you need to know.

Although Burls piece about the difficulties they would have faced if transporting the Bluestones by sea and then river amuses me, as he attempts to make it sound virtually impossible, I still lean towards the idea that they, somehow, brought those stones from SW Wales to Salisbury plain.
