I have tried to not respond negatively to this thread, although it has been difficult. Now I will say this and then leave it alone:

As someone repeatedly on the receiving end of his unprovoked vitriol: "the most selfish person on here" because I don't have children, amongst other things, I personally think TMA is better without his paranoid, childish tantrums. He attacked quite a few very good contributors directly, not to mention posting bilge about how all Catholics are paedophiles. Any attempt at rational discussion where he disagreed was ultimately met with "I know best and because you disagree with me you're a horrible person".

Obviously it's up to the Eds, if he is even wanting to come back that is, but it wouldn't get my vote. He crossed the line into utterly offensive far too many times for me. Sorry to sound so unforgiving, but he was given so many chances by everyone.

Hi thesweetcheat,

I fully understand your issues with bladup. I would feel the same, but, and this is a big but, I am passionate about freedom of speech, as it is being eroded away by the Government, and the pc brigade.

We all have opinions, and I agree with you that bladup was obnoxious. However, I think he has the right to say what he wants. Obviously, the things he said weren't received too well by most TMA-ers, including myself. I might not like what he has to say, but I think he has the right to say it.

That then leaves the moderators to decide. It's not an easy task, as it's basically censorship, and who wants to be known as someone who bans someone because they don't agree with what they have to say? After all, some of us remember the days before the Berlin Wall was breached, and how we all regarded the East as a place where free speech wasn't possible. Now the West is turning into the very thing we all protested against. Not only that, but we now have the powers that be monitoring our every post on the internet, and prosecuting people who step out of the Government line. Add to that the number of cctv stuff and we are definitely in the era of Big Brother. We are now approaching the ways of the Eastern Bloc.

Sometimes it's best to let voices be heard. I think it's probably best to ignore the ones that wind you up. I know I have been guilty of the same as you in the past, but I try to stop my compulsion now!

All the best my friend,
TE.

TE, I think people have more of an issue with the how rather than the what. If you want to start a thread about your special interpretation of a site, you can still have as many lizards, past lives, vibes and fairies as you want round here, and people can respond or not as they choose to. Pretty free speech? Personal insults are less on topic. I'd expect to get the same treatment if I started slagging people off so why should some people get special cossetting. Seems pretty reasonable to expect reasonable adult behaviour round here. anyway that's my twopennorth.

I agree with everything you say about being able to have ones own opinion. However to attack some one the way Bladup did to Sanctuary because he didn't agree with Sanctuary's theory was uncalled for.
I thought the idea of the forum was somewhere we could put forward our own views on something and then enter into discussion. Just because our ideas about a certain point differ from another's it doesn't necessarily mean their point is wrong, or ours is right, as how can any of us really know what the objects were for when they were constructed thousands of years ago and taking a different approach sometimes can lead to getting nearer to the truth. We can all put forward theories and if we join the theories together we may get somewhere ,which we won't do fighting amongst ourselves.
