Hello again :) Yes Castlerigg was beautiful. We were lucky to have it to ourselves for a little while. I realised yesterday that my ex has all the photos of that visit but have asked him to send them to me, so once I see them I might add them if they are any good.
Lewis was just wonderful. The beaches have white sand and while we were there we had amazing weather. Everywhere else in England and Wales were suffering from floods and storms whilst I was sat on the beach in shorts watching Terns dive into the sea just a few meters in front of me. Callanish blew me away. It really is awesome in the true sense of the word.
You are so right, Spring is on it's way and I will direct my energies elsewhere :)
Thank you for sharing your impressions of Lewis, Blossom - visiting has always felt out of reach, then out of the blue I met someone who had recently lost their partner and who is more than happy to facilitate the occasional adventure by doing the driving when necessary. All that's left when dealing with loss is be thankful for what the person gave even when they are no longer around - for whatever reason. I went to Castlerigg the week after my mother's funeral and climbed my very first mountain (albeit a small one). My father died some years earlier and his last words to me were "It went so fast".
Here's to spring, to life while we have it, to Callanish, sea-eagles, perhaps some dolphins out there in the Atlantic.

There is too much to say about Lewis. The peace and pace of the place is uplifting. Don't run out of anything on a Sunday as the only.. ONLY.. place open is a garage at Stornoway.

There are surprises everywhere.. I was driving over a bridge and my partner said "are those standing stones up there".. I looked and yes just in front of me on a small hill on the other side of the bridge were two standing stones, standing majestically looking out over the bay.

The Broch at Carloway was magnificent. I spent a lot of time there. It was hard to grasp just how they had built such a magnificent structure without machinery.

I saw Sea Eagles on Skye. Oh and the "fairy glen" near the port from Skye to Lewis is remakable.. really well worth a visit.

oh and Clach an Trushal is astounding.. it is huge. I really liked this stone, not just the size of it but it's position looking out to the sea.. just the "feel of it"

You really will love Lewis I think :)
