Wasn't trying to pour cold water on it, having scrambled down the slope to the spring at the bottom I can say it 'feels' like a place of ancient importance - again the watery connection. Am I correct in remembering the spring feeds into an oxbow bend in the River Kennet giving the impression of a pool. Its a very atmospheric spot between the Sanctuary and Silbury.
