We are between a rock and a hard place where energy resources are concerned.
That's 'progress' for you isn't it. Go back 5,000 years and they were sat around a log fire using up all the resources available then and wondering what would happen when all the trees were gone!
Wood burning stoves are making a big come back. The problem we have now is the planet's resources were rapidly depleted during the previous century added to which there are ever increasing people needing to use them. Nuclear waste cannot be safely disposed of. Gas, oil and coal are running out fast - that leaves 'renewable' energy and trees. I read today that human waste is now used very effectively as fertiliser for farms on the Indian sub-continent. That is a resource we seem to have in plentiful supplies.

Ha, it's been used very effectively here in Cornwal as well June up until about 5 years ago. Farmers had the right to spread 'their own untreated waste' over their fields but started emptying septic tanks for others and using that as well. We had it in the 40 acre field next to us, along with the stench and toilet tissue blowing in the wind. So many people, us included, were feeling and being sick because of it that it was stopped.
