Wow what a place to live! You're very lucky. Are you going back this year?

Lovely legend. It was a very hot summer when I went. And the rock garden was busy - I sat round the corner looking at the greenery which "does it" for me more than the rock garden.

Hi Emma, LS books the hotel room every year in Kyoto, but we never manage to save enough;) this year it rained the week we should have been there but maybe next year. I want to see the Imperial Palace gardens - stone, trees and water....

Well I really hope you get there in 2013! Good luck!

We’ll do it this year come hell or high water :-)

Around that corner where you sat, Emma, there’s a stone tsukubai (a ritual hand washing basin). Four characters are chiselled into the top of the basin which can be read as, "I learn only to be contented." Or, "I just know satisfaction." Or, "The knowledge that is given is sufficient."
