Am hoping to visit the Hebrides - Lewis (Callanish), Harris, North Uist and Skye. All yet to be arranged so don't want to say too much lest I jinx it. Not an easy trip to organise for someone without a car but where there's a will ...

This sounds amazing. I will watch your progress with interest (and much envy).

Hi tjj...we did this trip a few years ago in our first camper and I can honestly say it was amazing. I loved all the isles/places we visited but have to say that Callanish was definitely my favorite, every time we drove away to visit somewhere else we kept being pulled back at the first chance!!
I'm sure you will thoroughly enjoy it :)

What's the penny situation like tjj ?... if it's tight note that the hostels I used on my tour of the Uists/Harris/Lewis a few years back were the best I've ever been in. Very basic, but thatched roofs, honesty boxes for payment... truly another world.

Can't speak for Skye since I've always camped, but what a magical place that is.
