Stukeley's figures weren't always top notch
You’re not kidding. It’s hard to reconcile his almost childish little sketch of four Druids and a goat (the Druid Sacrifice of Yule-tide) with some of his very accomplished pics of Avebury.

A comparison of styles sounds interesting – it’d have to be done via the internet though.

The earliest Stukeley of Robinson is in print in 'Monuments and Material Culture', the Abury version is floating about on the web of course, there is a drawing of Stukeley by Vandergucht floating around too (can't recall where for the mo); but the others aren't available, can't recall if they are in London (Soc of Ants perhaps?).
