Our Sacred Land

What is very interesting here in Somerset is that all the rampant uncontrolled developement is courtesy, as always, of the Lib Dems.
Ironically, it's the Tories that are taking them on and trying to properly 'conserve'.I never thought it possible, but I have a rather weird feeling of 'my enemy's enemy is my friend' perhaps, at a local level and on this issue only.

Funnily enough, I was at Keynsham/Hicks Gate yesterday overlooking that land. Totally inappropriate. Bristol suddenly stops and rolling green countryside starts, and they want to take a 1,000-house bite out of it. No logic since Bristol is full of brownfield sites.

It's an outdated push too as the govt. has started to talk about developing Brownfield sites more this week. Giving their mates the chance to build on government owned land but in addition, not asking them to pay until they sell the houses. Nice work if you can get it. Only the taxpayer pays.
