As for the government's agenda to wring as much benefit out of our country for a tiny monied group of it's supporters, it happened before. Soon the Republicans in the States will be back and doing it again. The middle ground swing voters don't learn. Indeed, nor do the Rightr Wing voters, 99% of whom are always damaged as well despite thinking they won't, the poor chicks.

So what's it going to take then. Seriously.

I'm too old to be attracted by the "melt down so it can be re-moulded" solution, too risky, too much potential for even more people to be hurt. But it's not something we can choose to adopt. It might happen anyway (but does that produce fascist regimes?)

I wish there had been PR. The current coalition doesn't prevent the right wing from doing what it wants. One produced by PR might have. It seems to me that the two Western countries that are most prone to periodically have conservative policies running riot without any checks and balances are the two that have First Past the Post systems.

Devil's Den (Who says this discussion isn't stone related?)
