Just came across this rather splendid web-site which seems to have loads of info about the whole of Ireland; also sells county guide pocket books which could prove very useful.

I dont know this guy at all, but basically he took all the sites Ive visited and posted on here and turned them into his book on County Tipperary. Thats fair enough I guess, he has gone and visited them all but even an email to say hey while doing it would have been nice.
PS I wondered if it might be possible to have a "stickied" Ireland thread on here, Im sure lots of people from Ireland stumble upon here but see the low irish presence on the board. If there was a dedicated Ireland thread it might make it easier for people to get in contract with the Irish enthusists. We generally now use the forum on Megalithomania to keep in touch now.
Hi, Bawn
I became aware of the MMI on Facebook but only recently looked at his web-site. I've not yet had the opportunity to visit any ancient sites in Ireland but hope to spend a good bit of time doing so in the not too distant future. Northern Ireland seems enigmatic - if you ignore the politics and recent history. In prehistoric/historic terms I'm drawn to its close connections with the Western Isles of Scotland.

Megalithomania is a great web-site too, when I do begin my Irish travels I will be referring to it often. Tom FourWinds is much missed (along with many other departees) and it would be good to have a link to his site - don't know if there is some protocol that would prevent this though. I recently lost my 'favourites' bar on the internet - it disappeared one day and I've never been able to get it back so its easy to lose sight of my favourites websites.

All the best

Does pressing Alt + A bring it back?

Tjj,

I hope you make it over to Ireland, sorry about the bit of bitchiness in the reply above, it was the first I saw of these guides. Megalithomania is a great source for Ireland. Ive visited a few sites in the North of Ireland but havent been up that way too often.
I do think issues surrounding access to sites in the south would be less than up north but thats my own personel bias and not borne out by experience. Ive not had any problem with access in the North or South of Ireland but its always best to use your common sense.
