Oh June you're making me blush but I can't accept the compliment, I'm sure my obsession is rather unhealthy. And besides, it is all essentially nonsense at the end of the day, discovered with my bum firmly on my seat. I've got much more respect for those that get out and do real stuff and discover long lost things (you all know who you are).

But I do think it's excellent that this place is so 'multidisciplinary' and long may it continue eh.

Rhiannan, regarding many of the stony places I visited last summer, it was often either yourself or thesweetcheat who had written up the most recent well researched fieldnotes - plus the folklore often gets me reading up on otherwise unheard of places.

Goffick was right, however, to question the wisdom of looking backwards. Briefly; I recall not so long ago someone re-posted an excellent essay by Tomboline about protecting our heritage; then there are people like Tom Fourwinds who just vanished from here although thankfully his own web-site is still fully operational. Occasionally I come across something written by Treaclechops who was before my time - her posts jump off the screen full of the joy of living. Its a long list and some former contributors I am sure would prefer not to be mentioned - so I wont.
Enough said.
