OK I know it's off topic for here but since we're talking about it already.....
Sea Cat has posted next door how our unelected Tory government is reversing animal welfare moves across the board http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/forum/?thread=60425

It's all a bit hard to appreciate en masse but when you get down to individual creatures it's different: the legislation will mean Anne (who was in a town near me recently and prompted protests, as she always does wherever she goes), 52 years old, arthritic, in captivity for 47 years, the last elephant left in Britain still touring with a circus (Bobby Roberts'), will carry on being shipped from town to town and spending most of her time chained up in fields.

Sickening. I for one do NOT forget the individuality of each animal - I almost wish I did because my mind feels permanently disturbed over these issues - but I feel impotent in the face of such indifference to the suffering of farm, circus etc. animals.

Sorry for intruding - maybe this is for next door. And sorry for being depressing folks - love to all. :-)

Well, Bobby Roberts has packed in for the Winter but next year he's bound to visit your area, you could always go and have a word with him.

As for the Tories and cruelty, that's part of the mindset isnt it? Me, me, me.
I bet 99% of diagnosed psychopaths always vote for them.
