Hi Strathspey, always good to read your posts. I've owned a copy of The Modern Antiquarian for about eight years and started reading this forum about five years ago. My perception back then was that the leading contributors were many in number, often witty and always willing to share their knowledge. I can think of one leading contributor, Treaclechops, who died in her thirties ... her memory will always be kept alive by her close friends Jane & Moth but perhaps she should serve as a reminder that the sniping sometimes taking place here is totally pointless. I have read Treaclechop's fieldnotes by chance from time to time and always found them imspiring and witty. We can't bring her back; in her memory however, and that of Greywether (where ever he is) perhaps we could make this forum a good place to post again. I see Megadread is trying hard.

Generosity of spirit and courtesy is all that's needed - and I apologise in advance if this reads sanctimonious in any way. Just like many before me I am tired of dealing, and being associated with, the games people play.

tjj,
Hear hear about the sniping. Life's too short.
As for Treaclechops, well, she was a lovely writer, and an inspiration on TMA. I never knew her, more's the pity.
I hope Greywether is ok.
Cheers,
TE.
