I often use a small Nikon Coolpix P5100, very tiny and with a lot of function like a reflex, not only the guided mode.

Thanks McGlen. Not being a camera geek I've been told to be generally guided by price (you get what you pay for) but making sure it has a good and reliable 'auto' mode as I've been told that they are not all that reliable on some makes.
