Wales always send a tingle down my spine, its the landscape still wild enough to be pleasing. The Presceli mountains, Carreg Samson, Pentre Ifan. Waylands Smithy is another favourite, its sort of classy, upmarket, though I know its been restored.
Avebury I've known for years, even before it became FAMOUS, driving from Calne and glimpsing Silbury just before the dip to the Beckhampton roundabout. Wandering up to EKLB and just looking at this immense long barrow with all its secrets waiting to be unfurled. Stoney Littleton LB, sometimes the most peaceful place on earth, with the Wellow brook below and the sheep browsing. Stanton Drew circle for its stones, some so square you wonder why they got chosen, others beautifully coloured and shaped....

I'm quite happy visiting the same site over and over again - if nothing else it gives your mind enough rope to wander.

But now, having been prepared by old sketches and maps of Avebury (and blood-red moons at longbarrows), I've created this daydream of sitting, staring across it all from the Sanctuary and then setting off, one, two, three, four into an alien world (not just an embassy), for the first time.

Looking forward to seeing you all there :)
