Don't worry about it. You gotta play the percentages I guess. Out of every 100 people you bore the pants off enthusing about such stuff, 99 might be bemused at why you are so bothered, but 1 of them might get it, and that's sort of worth it in my book.

I have to agree with this; ten years ago I didn't even know how to spell archaeology let alone know much about the subject. I had other great interests though - such as art, music and literature. My interest in archaeology was triggered mainly by my proximity to Avebury and my good luck in meeting people who were passionate about its archaeology; I caught it from them and it flourished. Its worth remembering we are all teachers in life and we can pass our passions on to other people without even knowing we have done so. I also caught a real interest in rock art and mythology just by reading this and other forums ... the enthusiasm and knowledge of some of the people who post is very contagious.
