The Bord books I was trying to remember were:

Holy wells in Britain : a guide / Janet Bord. c2008. or
Sacred waters : holy wells and water lore in Britain and Ireland / Janet and Colin Bord. 1986.

I can remember Colin Bord writing in hippy mags like Gandalfs Garden in the 60's and they are still writting .That's quite a career .
