Most memorable were:

Buzzards swooping over the car driving past Carn Galver in Cornwall.

A pheasant that lept out from the grass at my feet at (I think) Notgrove.

A fox that scrambled vertically up the hedge holding the Sennen Stone when I disturbed it.

Various hares at different sites.

Oh, and Sodding Cows!!

HA! Cows are my main "wild life" spotting. Cows at Nine Stones Close that wouldnt leave me alone, cows at Stanton Drew, cows at Arbor Low, cows pretty much everywhere. And crows! Crows just love stones; they must just get a "vibe" or something.

Saw a huge amount of nuthatchs at Kilpeck Church and a cheeky robin too! Saw a terrified looking shrew on the way to Lligwy. Got my fingers corssed for some good wildlife next week in Scotland (could someone order me a few deer please, I've never seen wild deer in this country)

Just rattle a crisp packet loudly at Blackmount on your way north and two stags will run you down trying to get at anything you have to eat.

Dont feed them though, unless you have carrots or something good for them.

I must have a highly attuned 'deer radar' because I see them just about every day. Ok, it helps that we live in a village, but they're out there - just about everywhere. When we went to Glen Lyon with Big Sweetie a couple of years ago we saw more red deer than humans! (True!) Hope you get some really good sightings Faerygirl! Keep your eye on field boundaries, especially near woodland or copses.

If you find yourself near to Banchory on the A93, then you must go to the Bridge of Feugh, just to the south of the town. You can stand on the bridge and watch salmon leaping up the rapids.

I came across it by accident and was so entranced that I returned the next day to watch the display again.

My son and I had a brilliant deer encounter once in sutherland
we were out on an equinox morning and driving along a road
in the middle of nowhere when we spotted a whole herd of them
maybe twenty or so, some of the stags had grass and moss on their antlers as it was the start of the rut.
As we drove slowly past we noticed a particularly big stag stuck on the other side of the road, as it ran faster to get in front of us and to the other side we sped up a bit more, it was unwilling to come anywhere
near the car so there was no chance of a collision, so there it was this big stag racing us through the most unspoilt countryside in the country.
I'll never forget it or the look on my boys face.

Yes, my G/F has suffered from this, whilst I was busy taking pictures at Nine Stones Close, she was knee deep in mud trying to avoid an irate cow. How we laughed...
