No offence to you was meant. On reflection, I probably came across a bit aggressive, for which I apologise. It wasn't meant to be the case - just a bit grumpy.

You shouldn't give it a second thought TE, I think we could tell you were having a bad day. In fact your post made me laugh - I thought I was fairly 'pc' having lived many years in London but everyone slips up sometimes.
A few weeks back (in my town) the local indoor market re-opened after being closed for over a year. I was walking through one Saturday, it was almost empty, when a youngish Indian looking man asked me if I'd like to try the food on his stall. The conversation went something like this:

"Oh curry, how nice"
"It's not curry, its sort of Mediterranean"
"Oh, are you from Turkey then"
"No, I'm English from Birmingham, my parents are from India"

Sometimes we have to relearn what we thought we knew.

When I saw "I'm not racist" followed soon after by "If you don't like if f*ck off home" I thought I'd stumbled across a different forum altogether! :(
