A long time ago we used to know people at Bewcastle. Which is not *all* that far away, I suppose.
I have some new sites in SW Northumberland that need putting on the guided tour map. I'm always busy and lack enthusiasm, so only mention this as a potentiality. The sites are listed on the county record but have not been visited (with two exceptions) by anybody official or from this board. They are kind-of taboo (septic) and are mostly within a single valley - the upper South Tyne. The largest parish was in Scotland for about fifty years (until 1254). What little associated folklore there is is carried by me (only). Perhaps I should post some pictures, here, after the weekend.
