Hey up there Hob,

The path up Simonside is overdue really, it is a bit intrusive, but when you look on the current satellite images, it's pretty obvious that it needs to be done. Every year the worn bit gets wider, as the sandy subsoil blows away each winter, following the summer's over-treading.
Not to mention the greatest erosion vehicle - water. During heavy rain water takes the line of least resistance downhill, i.e. via the bits with least grass/heather/bracken etc. What you end up with is a water-worn channel. I've recorded it on the digi-box, and look forward to seeing it.
