Pictures look very interesting, not a site I've heard of before.

What's the story here?

I'd love to hear more about this stone family,
I read a ley line book once and there was something
in it about a stone family sitting in a cave on a mountain, also a stone that looks like a crocodile or dragon and is painted white annually.
It was read along time ago, and doesnt make much sense to me now
let alone to anyone else.

Thanks for posting those- good to see they are tucked up for the Winter season.
I visited this site two months ago and have been waiting to 'meet the family' for many years. What a place- remote, desolate, eerie, magnificant!Can't really put into words what it felt like at the site....
I agree with you that we shouldn't put up map co-ordinates etc etc on here as the site is so fragile and could easily be abused by others who are not of the same mind as the folk of TMA! Someone could easily make off with one of the 'children'!!! I took a ton of pix when I was there, but decided not to post them for that very reason.
I am friends with a mannie who worked with Bob Bissett for 30 seasons up there. Bob was the head gamekeeper for the estate and used to take the family out of their shieling at the begining of the season, to return them with a fresh bed of straw for the Winter. Bob's final resting place is up those parts too.
Apologies for being so obscure, but they aren't too difficult to find if you really want to see them. Oh, BTW, I've read reports that the site could be as old as Bronze Age, but I'm not sure how you date apotropaic water-wron stones,
