Eyup Mr C, getting up the hill from that end sounds quite troublesome. I'd not want to try it in poor conditions.

I vaguely recall that there was a problem a while back with people parking 4x4s down at the obvious spot, and also driving them up the track to Blawearie, it's possible you may have been there then. Last couple of times, I've taken the route up through the trees, up the steep bit, but I remember Jan showed a bunch of us that it's much easier to get up there by following the Blawearie track for a bit longer, then cutting up the gentler slope just before you get to the old quarry.

I honestly can't remember exactly where the path leads off from the Blawearie track to get up into the trees. It's not all that far up, more or less as soon as you get parallel with the trees.

Cheers for that. It was only a couple of weeks ago that I was up there so maybe the 'no parking' signs are a recent development, they were outside the house on the left of the track but I assumed they applied to the whole of that little area.
So that northern path is the one I should have gone for - typical! The southern one is a long walk and got pretty mushy in places where the cows had churned it up. Looking on google satellite maps I can see a few paths or tracks that branch off of that northern Blawearie path and head on up the hill so I'll take your advice and go for one of those whenever I manage to get up there again. Cheers for your help fella.
