One to watch out for at the minute is those paper lanterns that float off skywards. Very pretty. They seemed to be quite popular this summer. I'll bet Fortean Times have been inundated with reports.

Yeah, the coastguard service say they get lots of reports of flares going up and it turns out to be these chinese lanterns, but they have to investigate every call even if they have been warned in advance of a wedding.
