Oops, sorry for the misquote. I probably misquoted all the others too, the trials of trying to catch up as a newbie...
The lights on Arthur's seat these days always seem to be attributed to UFO's. I don't think they are referring to a Brocken Spectre type of phenomenon, these are lights in the sky. I've been trying to track down the legend of the Night Shining Jewel on the peak of Arthur's Seat for a couple of weeks. Donald MacKenzie mentions it casually in passing in his book Ancient Man, but I havent found anything on it online yet. I have all his other books on Scotland, and nothing there either. I'm assuming it's part of the arthurian "sleepers beneath the hill" myth, where the sleepers are wakened by tolling bells and lights. Either that or its connected to norse myths, I will have to study it longer.
I have lots of nice pictures of Arthurs Seat, the wells, coffins, terraces, etc... Some nice arty ones that make a nice desktop picture too. I could upload them to TMA site but it always says I am logged in as "deleted" and wont accept the name and password I am using here on this forum.
