Yup, climbed Durn Hill the other day which is supposedly an unfinished fort. Three rows of ditches, walls, earthworks seems to me to be a massive amount of work for an uncomplete job. Also climbed Wheedlemont, Canmore says that defence was maybe not the first priority. So I don't have any answers either.......Sorry!
