Have a good one y'all..sorry can't make it again this year...why is it always in the busiest time of the year for those of us stuck in Cornwall looking after holiday makers!

Mr H

Just finished packing my camping gear, unfortunately not to head to Avebury though, checking out some sites on the Derbyshire moors on my tod, bliss.
Have a good un.

"Stuck in Cornwall"? Hah! Well you'll get no sympathy from me, young man! ;)

Shame you can't make it... I guess the idea is to second-guess the weather and choose what is supposed to be the finest time of year! (Rolls on floor laughing etc) Maybe next year we can suggest a slightly earlier or later date... It'd be good to see you again! Although, saying that, we may be getting down your way in September so I may be in touch!

Cheers Mr H.

We got to Avebury about 11:30 and had a wander round before catching sight of scubi sitting outside the Lion. Pretty soon others began arriving, some deciding to sit outside while others settled for the big front room. There was a flow between the two groups for a while until we managed to take over the whole of one of the other front rooms. Think it was scubi who said he thought he saw Hob come in. I'd never met Hob before but went over to say hello. Glad I did - Hob and his family are really lovely! Managed to have a slightly longer chat to him as we queued up for hot drinks. Hope your visit to Stoney Littleton was all you expected Hob, and you managed to get a good pic of the ammonite.

Great to meet up again with people. Sad that some who were there last year couldn't make it this time but happy to have met some new peeps. Can't close without mentioning Jane's photo albums (which have set ideas going in our heads). Also common era's spectacular book, The Prehistoric Peak (more here http://heritageaction.wordpress.com/2009/06/27/the-prehistoric-peak-an-exhibition/ ). c e said that the greatest compliment he could be paid about his book would be to see a battered old copy on the back seat of someone's car rather than one still wrapped in tissue paper and in pristine condition. Had to confess that a copy of his leather-bound deluxe edition would be wrapped in tissue paper if I owned one :-) Once again, good luck with getting that published c e - and we want a signed copy of it when it is ;-)

Needless to say, ideas for the next Megameet are already in the pot, along with some possible Minimeets in-between.
