Castlerigg is within night-time walking distance of a campsite:

Not sure if it's within your driving distance. Fairly minimal light pollution though, so might be worth a thought.

If you want any advice about which 1 or 2 berth tent to think about Harve, gis a shout, I've just done a stupidly detailed amount of research into what's out there at the minute.

I've done hardly any research on it but have a North Face Tadpole 23 that has lasted me over a decade and is easy to get up, take down and also proved highly advantageous in getting a positive marriage proposal response*. Bit pricey but worth it :-)

* I can't guarantee that this feature is available on the newer models.

I'd also second the barn farm/nine ladies recommendation.

I was just going to go to the nearest camping shop and buy one, I don't even know what I want!
I've got a van, so I can take shitloads of stuff with me, so I haven't got to keep stuff in the tent. I just know I don't want a small tent, one like a coffin with no hight, y'know!
I'd like one big enought for just me, that I can stand up in, and sit outside sucking a jug.

I second that! Was recommended it some years back (cheers, Sals!) and will definately use it again and again. Superb facilities, beautiful location, and great if you're looking for a peaceful experience!

I have one of these chappies: http://www.campingworld.co.uk/Models.aspx?ModelID=1701

It is a bit difficult for one person to erect, but manageable. The build quality is superb. It's best feature is that you collapse it with the inner still attached, so when you erect it all you have to do is put the groundsheet in and you're done. There's loads of room in the front porch area and the sleeping compartment is very roomy.
