Hey, and im sorry if i caused offence, it was an off the cuff remark and i did put a smiley after it :)) I lived near Avebury for a number of years and got to know a couple of farmers who seemed proud that they used chemicals and were not organic, the crops do look beautiful but i do find Monsanto and their ilk very sinister indeed.
Thank you, appreciated.

I'm all for organic farming and know varying levels of pesticides are used on a large proportion of our food crops; I don't know how Wiltshire fares in this. Some while ago I spent time in Lincolnshire where the crops are heavily sprayed; around Spalding there was a very high incidence of breast cancer which was thought to have a correlation to field spraying, though these statistics are hard to prove.

Do you have any reason to believe Monsanto is involved around Wiltshire, I thought it was an American company.

Chemega at Winterbourne Monkton supplies a lot of the chems for the crops in the area.
Growth excelleraters/inhibiters, pesticides, fungicides, ripeners etc.
Most of the flattened crop can be harvested by a skilled combine driver by lowering the blades.
The crop damaged by walking across the field instead of the tramlines cannot be collected which is why the farmers get so annoyed about it.
Some farmers have taken to listing the chemicals sprayed on the crops at cropcircle sites to protect themselves from being sued by american visiters.
