Some of the farmers will put a car near the entrance to the field and charge visitors three quid, or something, to get in. I tried to become a repository of traditional field skills and these include the liberal use of a straightback scythe. I've cut grass for hay, on a small scale, and wheat for bread, on a garden scale. I move stuff around now, compost, straw, manure, and I know the number of megajoules of energy that goes into physically manipulating stems and plants! Nobody leaves any sweat behind, with the genuine crop circles. The first visitor doesn't find any discarded water bottles, orange peel salami wrappers. Symbols may be endlessly debated. These ones are highly abstract - just look what's happened with the Iranian election ...
