There's a fair bit of racial prejudice in France toward English, and vice versa, of course, but it's very beautiful - the northwest coast is intriguing and the bit where the Knights Templar hung out - Rennes - ermm - very hot in the summer. Wales you can walk to. Everyone probably has relatives there, just a case of how far you want to go back. Wiltshire seems like another country - are there still roadside stalls in Somerset selling scrumpy? Nettle beer in Wales in the fifties, on the roadside. Then there's the European pyramids, in Bosnia. There'll be interesting until they turn into Blackpool in the hills - unless it already has. People should acknowledge being transhumanic - if that's the right word - migratory, in part. Beachcombing's cool too - the world comes to you

Yup, there certainly are Mr S, though you may need to go off the beaten track a bit now to find them. Remember many years ago finding one in a side lane - three great barrels of cider in an old barn that was about 500 years old (the barn that is not the zider).
