No, I read them too. So thanks for taking the time. That stuff settles and then will sprout something (if that makes sense). As I read them I was contrasting how differently I would make a visit. Boats, tent, P. mexicana and malaria (probably). I read Cook's Voyages last summer at camp and I'm still thinking about his end. Very fitting. (On another note, on the Farmer's Forum, which I lurk every couple of days, one of the regulars has just - two hours ago - posted a suicide note - 'goodbye'. I guess we should be ready for it, maybe?).

Hey there Stoneshifter- Glad you read them, too. No malaria in French Polynesia. Plenty of sandflies and nonos though, and dengue fever (which I dread but so far I have avoided). You can get the supply boat to Hiva Oa but it takes weeks as it circulates round the islands and is very expensive. (Everything in FP is depressingly expensive, except fruit which is free.).
You're a bit harsh on old Capt Cook. Surely no one deserves to be murdered by Hawaiians? It's an unpopular view to have, but I rather admire Cook. He was an awesome navigator and seaman.

Feeling quite alive here.
