The bluestone debate - http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/forum/?thread=34375 - has thrown up some interesting ideas and arguments about the possible transportation of the bluestones from Preseli to Salisbury, and it's got me wondering how many other stones, at other sites, may have been selected (and brought to those sites) for their special appearance or significance. There's the fossilized tree mentioned in the Standing with Stones DVD for example (sorry, I don't have the name of that one to hand) and the wonderful stone at the entrance of Stony Littleton, with its large embedded ammonite http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/51/stoney_littleton.html#
I wonder how many stones there are at other sites that we can say have (possibly) been selected because of their special appearance or significance...
