Hi tiompan,

Another day, another question! I just saw your answer to a proposal concerning Chun Quoit on another forum and I was wondering how to calculate that 60m distance from the line. Probably some elementary thing that I should remember from school.

There's something around here that I spotted some time back and never got around to going back to the figures to check properly. Perhaps over the Christmas.

Thanks,
Gordon.

Should have mentioned it might be dificult to work it out in GE if the sites are in Ireland due to lack of hi res unless you have precise co-ordinates ion which case the background fuzziness won't matter .

Hi Gordon , rather than calculate you could also work it out using Google Earth ,drawing a line between the two angles then measuring the distances or similarly mark the points in gpsu and measure again .

Yup. Got the co-ordinates. I had read Burl's Great Stone Circles book, just can't remember which chapter at the moment, but he had some criticisms of proposals of alignments - too many types of monuments included, so many metres off the line and so on. Your piece, this morning, reminded me of it.

I'll have a fiddle with the figures when I get the chance and I might ask for assistance again if I get in trouble, if that's ok?
