Hmm, an interesting anecdote; however, it doesn't seem to stand up, in its entirety, on investigation.The DIN (Deutsches Institut für Normung) system of paper sizing was adopted, in Germany, in 1922. Perhaps Watkins proposed that we applied the same system, as we eventually did, in the UK.
