Also highly recommend his rare oop book Strange South Yorkshire which someone is selling for a steal on ebay right now! I'd pay four times as much for this book!

if I didn't already have the book I'd be rushing to buy this as it is essential reading

It has a wonderful section on the disputed Pagan Anglo-Saxon versus Norman origins of Bailey Hill in Bradfield near Sheffield which is located behind St Nicholas' church. Not a prehistoric site (or is it ;) ) but well worth a visit in the context of this thread.

Also some interesting ideas about the Head Stone/Cock Crowing stone on the Rivelin Valley

I wish I had room for more books, but I moved from a three bedroom place to a one bedroom place and I still haven't been able to unpack lots of boxes of them, despite building a floor to ceiling bookshelf in the hall which will have to be dismantled if I ever order a delivery of anything like a fridge or other large item. The contents look interesting and it gets good reviews, and a lot of the stories are on websites, so I'll have to make do for now. 'Tis the sigh.
