My only other thought is that why would there only have been one at stonehenge? Surely there would be others?

here is my thinking on this. stonehenge III came at the very end of the megolithic culture. it is my understanding that very few stone circles were built after that time..
your point could also read like this....."why was stonehenge the only one with a sarsen circle of lintel stones.." it is unique. i contend that the introduction of metal (iron) brought an end to all megalithis building.
by the way, some people have told me that they are printing out the little model and leaving the top carousel off, thus having a nice paper model of stonehenge as it would have look in its heyday,,,,not hay day......
