I try to crack a joke with the runners when we pass on the moors so, depending on how long ago you were up there, yes, it was me. I was born on the edge of the moors - Old Colliers Row - and I've found a lot of stuff. Plenty of daft stones and a few big lumps. It's best to read this ( http://www.davidaspinall.co.uk/disperse/Smithills_ancient_monuments.pdf ) first. There's one big site that I've been exploring, and it's at the top of Halliwell Road, in the middle of the houses. It seems to be two adjacent long barrows, with a perfect round barrow right beside one of them and an eroded round barrow a little way off. I've been warned off reporting them to the county archaeologist - who can't (allegedly) be bothered to even look at them.
