One of the best screen capture utilities I've seen is Fast Capture from www.faststone.org - I think the latest version is nagware or timeare, but if you can find V1.53 (unlimited trial) anywhere, it's worth getting.

Captures a lasoo, freehand area, specific window or control to clipboard, file or editor. Can include shadowing and watermarking if required. I use it all the time!
