Having started the week with my first Stanton Drew sunrise, it seemed fitting to end it with my first sunset at the site! I witnessed a spectacular setting sun as well as the waxing moon. Other people came and went but it felt like I was in my own bubble for much of the visit. As for the sunrise I've included extracts from my forthcoming poem about the site.
An orientation involving the Stanton Drew great circle that may be of iinterest and may also be "just one of those things " or bollocks = Shortly after Newgrange was built the winter solstice sun would have shone through the roof box on a bearing of 132.874 degrees , the bearing from the centre of Newgrange to Stanton Drew great circle = 132.895 . I have never seen this mentioned previously so apologies in advance if it has been spotted before . http://www.handswithenergy.co.uk/events/stantondrew-20080216/index.html
