I fear we must differ on this point Ken! There have probably been more people killed in the past hundred years in conflicts than in the whole of the rest of human history! Think holocaust, think mass 'ethnic' (read religious) cleansing in various places to numerous to name, two world wars to say nothing of the Mao Zedong's regime in China, and Stalin's killing spree in Russia. There was also the Iran/Iraq war, the Russian civil, the Korean, the Vietnamese, the Khmer Rouge thing, the Afghan wars.... and these are just those that readily spring to mind. We have more deadly weapons than ever more, designed to cause more destruction and misery on an unimaginable scale. The violence and brutality metered out in the 20th century make simple Roman routings of their enemies look like a fluffy girly tea party.
