Remembering that I've worked with stones, as a sculptural media, since about '84 and with clay for the decade before, my advice would be to go and look at the fragment of carved spiral that is embedded in the wall on Harpers Lane, in Smithills. It is more amazing than the Russian mazes simply because it's a three hour train journey away, for you, and because nobody recognises it - and just walks past.
