Oiche Samhain

Hmm think this one might be open for a toss! I thought it was originally the full moon after the harvest (Sept.) moon, marking the end of the harvest and the onset of winter with a fire festival. The date became fixed when the christian church moved their all-saints day from April I think. But I'm probably wrong again!

Isn't there some game show where you have to put a plausible explanation of something forward and then the other side have to guess whether its true or not? To be honest yours sound better than mine. I'll check later.
Great Coolasnaghta picture by the way. Talk about getting down there and mucking in... If only the Irish forwards had shown such commitment!

Well that according to this site would be Oct 26 (A Friday). At the moment I leaning towards that as being the day for Samhain.
