Howdo Flinty
there are a number of sources of obsidian in the Mediterranean and Aegean that were used in prehistory. Off the top of my head, there was an active trade in obsisian from Sardinia and Liparia. There are others but I can't remember them and currently don't have access to my books.
You should take your finds along to your local archaeology unit. If they are obsidian or pitchstone they should be recorded as I would imagine they are quite significant.

Wasn't this what the Druid's sacrificial knives were made from ? (Allegedly).
