Well other than Christopher Hawkes she was married to Jack Priestley ! At least I think they married. As this is a more ancient history focus I may have slightly misled you. English Journey is well worth reading but it talks of three Englands. The England of the arterial Roads and then modern architecture that looked like American liners and aircraft, the underground stations and industrial buildings of the Great West Road. Then the England of quaint inns and backward looking architecture. You will have to read it to find the third but it isn't prehistoric Britain.
