That's true, but even if you zig-zag up a slope you need somewhere to aim for as you approach the slope.

There's a great Watkins-style stone in Waterford that Derek (bawn79) and I walked up to. It's a beauty in a high col. However, there's a low pass 2km to the south of it. I know which way I'd prefer to go :-)

A bunch of old duffers around Hereford got a lot of fresh air thanks to Watkins , pencil ruler and map sales did well too then along came Michell and the Ley Hunter , I still have some copies must dig then out .
