I suppose you could cement it in at the base and not have to bury it so far, but that wouldn't quite seem right.

I'd love to drag something home of that magnitude- but you're right, you really need some power vehicle to manage it. Or a whole bunch of prehistoric sarsen jockeys.

We only had to move it across the yard...about 10 ft but there was no way five grown men could do it without doing ourselves a mischief! local farmers can have thier uses!

You need the Stonehengineers, handofdave. A disparate bunch of stone-heads of varying geological ages more than willing to put their backs into a project (and their bodies into green tee-shirts) as long as there's a catering truck to hand. Of course, your neck of the woods might be a bit heavy on the mileage claims, but I'm sure something could be arranged. It was 14 tons wasn't it, people?
