good for the locals!

shame the school has to close

what harm can a small 'capsule' do to an age-old monument, which has been roundly abused over the years?

how can we be so arrogant as to suggest that future generations will not want to explore Silbury again? Wouldn't they be pleased to find a snapshot of our lives, together with evidence that 2st century man did actually hold the monument in some kind of regard?

Service of Thanksgiving – 10.30am, Thursday 19th July 2007

St James’ Church, Avebury

There will be a thanksgiving service to celebrate the long work of the Avebury village school which closes at the end of the summer term after 163 years.

Everyone is welcome to this service of thanksgiving which is to be held at 10.30am at St James’ Church, Avebury on Thursday 19th July 2007.

Are you are an ex-pupil, however long ago!! Please make contact with either:
Rector Carol Davies on 01672 539643
or with anyone at the school on 01672 539215.

We would really like everyone who has any memories or anecdotes about the school to contact us. Would you like to come and tell the children what it was like when you were at the school? Would you like to take a small part in the service, or perhaps to take a more active part in the service? Have you any memories, however small? We want to hear from anyone who can help mark the closure of the school.
